The East African School of Library and information Science (EASLIS) is a regional training school for Library and Information Science in East Africa established in 1963 as a result of the agreement of the three East African States Viz. Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
The School is a fully-fledged Institution equivalent to a Faculty of Makerere University. It offers a number of training programmes so that at graduation, the students are equipped with skills to work in any Information institution like Library, Archival Institutions, Registries, Records Offices, and Publishing houses, Book distribution Centres, Documentation Centers, Information Centres, Resource Centers etc.
Library and Information Science is a service-oriented programme that requires practical skills of different types. To satisfy the need, a computer laboratory, Audio-visual Laboratory, Book processing Unit, Desktop Publishing Unit, have been established.
