EASLIS students present PhD research findings

Three students from the East African School of Library and Information Sciences (EASLIS) presented their PhD research in November, 2011 and their studies were found to be worthy of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Information Science of Makerere University.

The students included:

Ms. Helen Musanabera Byamugisha – Topic: “Information Seeking and Use among Urban Farmers in Kampala City, Uganda

Ms. Sarah Kaddu Birungi – Topic: ‘Information and Communication Technologies’ (ICTs) Contribution to the Access and Utilization of Agricultural Information by the Rural Women in Uganda'

Fredrick Nathaniel Mukungu – Topic: ‘Strategies for Enhancing Information Literacy among University Graduates in Uganda

The three are scheduled to graduate in January 2011. Being the first PhDs awarded in Information Science from EASLIS, CoCIS considers this a remarkable achievement.
