4th Cohort Amity Graduation

The 4th AMITY University Degree and Diploma award ceremony was conducted on the 27th Feb 2015 at CoCIS Makerere University. A total of 199 students graduated. The degrees and diplomas are awarded under agreement with the government of India, Telecommunications Consultants India Limited and African Union in association with Makerere University.

AMITY is a PAN African e-Network project that was offered by the then Indian President H.E Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam with an aim to share Indian expertise in the fields of education and health care with the African countries in order to accelerate socio-economic development of Africa.

The guest of Honor Hon. Eng. John Nasasira Minister of information and Communication Technology was represented by Dr. David Turahi the Director Information Technology (IT) in the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MoICT) He credited the University for the Social Economic Transformation especially for the youth. He said that the grandaunts should engage in business process outsourcing and become tele-workers to gainfully use the trending technology.

Dr. A.V.S. Ramesh Chandra the Indian high commissioner to Uganda graced the occasion with an inspirational speech and congratulated the graduates opon their victory; he said “nothing succeeds like success”. He appreciated Ugandans for their hospitality, love and affection and added that “India is blessed to cooperate with Uganda.” He commended the teachers and parents for their great efforts towards this accomplishment.

 

Assoc. Prof. Okello Ogwang the DVC Academic Affairs of Makerere University applauded the graduates and recognized them for their discipline without which they wouldn’t have made it. He respects the growing skill and number in the different fields after the 3 years.

Convocational medal winners from Uganda were also awarded gold, silver and bronze medals for their academic brilliance. The best students included; Ojok Morris, Justine Fay Katwesige, Augustine Kisitu, Senyonjo Paul, Nabisubi Alice and Simbwa Moses.

The college extends special wishes to all the Amity Graduates.
