Dr. Betty Izati cited the whole learning process students go through. The students included the college Principle Prof. Constant Okello-Obura, and other delegates from the college of computing and information technology. She mentioned different learning processes which included Behaviourism where the teachers’ role is to apply knowledge i.e. it requires the learner to have a high cramming capacity and this limits creativity among the students because the teacher must be better than the students this is in relation with Pavlov’s Dog theory, Cognitivist where it’s the learners attitude which matters and Social-constructs which includes interaction between students. “However, technology has posed a change in the way we live and learn” Dr. Betty stressed.

Dr. Tito Okumu. He ensured Lecturers on the ways to accurately assess results online through group discussions using the discussion forum. This was proved to be more effective in terms of assessment.

The Dr.Resty Kamya mentioned the different types of OER like Open source software, open course, Podcasts, Open Textbooks, videos, Images, Libraries, Open Journals, Games and Accreditation i.e. people get to the author.
Open education resource Agenda includes understanding, creating, finding, licensing i.e. when you license it becomes open source, Reusing and Remixing. The common Open education resource learning styles include visual learning, auditory learning and Verbal learning.

Why do you think it is important to share content?images/stories/news/april/DSC02101.JPG
There are uncountable advantages of open education resources which include sharing important Knowledge, saving time, it’s often updated because it’s online, it can be reused, and encourage research and they are more interactive. It should be noted that most advantages were explained in video clips and this gave the students a better understanding of OER. She mentioned various challenges of OER some of which involved; The quality which varies from source to source i.e. some sources don’t much the given standards, Varying degrees of commitment i.e. some students are committed to study while others are the opposite, Teachers are sometime not awarded by the system for their efforts, There is a need to check accuracy before use and may need high degree of customization or Localization.
She later talked about the creative commons as the best way of securing our ideas. “When creating OER we need to consider Usability, Durability, Accessibility and effectiveness” said the Dr.Resty Kamya.

Dr. semwogerere the Amity university coordinator also gave speech concerning the advantages and challenges he goes through while conducting Amity as an OER.

The workshop was climaxed by the Principal Assoc. Prof. Constant Okello Obura who thanked his fellow students for their great participation in the workshop. The Principal also mentioned another workshop of the same kind of the date to be communicated.
